The Broadway Youth Center, a program of Howard Brown and our community partners, is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Resource Advocacy Coordinator. This is a full time, benefits-eligible position at the Broadway Youth Center. See below for full job details and application instructions.

JOB TITLE: Resource Advocacy Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Manager of the Broadway Youth Center


Position Summary:

The Resource Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Resource Advocacy Program and ensuring the provision of individualized, youth-centered support to at-risk LGBTQ (lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, queer) youth, youth experiencing homelessness, and street-based youth at the Broadway Youth Center. Resource Advocacy services are to be provided as a part of Broadway Youth Center’s daily drop-in services—as well as through scheduled appointments. The Resource Advocacy team links young people to housing, career services, and other support services. The Resource Advocacy Coordinator will also provide resource advocacy to youth participants. The Drop In Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Resource Advocacy Coordinator to co-direct the Drop In Program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide the overall leadership and planning necessary to successfully coordinate the Resource Advocacy Team.

2. Connect youth to resource advocacy services by building rapport through active staffing of BYC’s Drop In Program.

3. Assess and engage eligible youth participants into resource advocacy and develop a youth-centered, youth-driven plan.

4. Support youth in achieving individualized resource advocacy goals by linking participants to housing, career services, health care, educational programs, public benefits, and other support services.

5. Maintain ongoing, regular contact with 10-15 youth participants and reassess goals as necessary.

6. Supervise the proper documentation of resource advocacy services through electronic and health record systems. All documentation should comply with agency privacy and confidentiality practices.

7. Provide accurate reports related to Resource Advocacy outcomes.

8. Ensure the provision of high-quality, responsive care to youth participants.

9. Coordinate staffing, programming, various working groups, and initiatives related to the Drop In Program.

10. Support the Drop In Coordinator with the recruitment, training, and supervision of Drop In Program volunteers and interns.

11. Coordinate, design, and/or facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings, staff development opportunities, and trainings related to the Drop In Program.

12. Build relationships with various community stakeholders to support the Drop In Program and promote Drop In Program visibility and awareness of LGBT and street-based youth issues.

13. Support initiatives as requested by the Manager of the Broadway Youth Center.

14. Conduct all other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience with social justice organizing or social service/public health field is highly regarded. Professional experience highly regarded. Must possess strong communication and organizational skills. Must demonstrate the ability to use a youth-centered, trauma-informed, anti-oppression, and harm reduction framework with diverse communities. Professional experience working with at-risk youth, especially LGBTQ and homeless youth, highly regarded. Bilingual – Spanish/English preferred.

Working Conditions:
The Broadway Youth Center is a fast paced environment where space is limited. The position regularly requires evening hours and occasionally weekend hours.
